Situated on Grafton street since 2007, shoppers may be shocked to find out that American Apparel is soon to be gone from Dublin for good.
Even more shocking is the fact that it will not only be the Irish branch shutting it’s doors for good but all of it’s outlets worldwide.
Recently bought by Canadian company Gildan Activewear, the new owners have expressed plans to shut down all American Apparel stores and manufacturing facilities.
The sale of American Apparel comes due to the company falling into financial debts it could not pay off.
Infamous for it’s suggestive and often times questionable adverts, the company has come under a lot of criticism over the years for the exploitation of not only it’s models but the young women employed by the company.
Whether you loved it or hated it, the closure will mean that over 3,000 people are due to lose their jobs across the globe.
No date has been announced for the official closing of the Dublin store but if you are a loyal customer you may want to head in fast and take advantage of the mega discounted clothes.
