Last night I was very lucky to attend the #CarryLight ‘Liberty Copper’ Launch party from Alex and Ani at the Kilkenny Shop in Dublin.

This was the first Alex and Ani event I had attended and there was a big wave of ‘it’s an honour just to be nominated’ as a tried to look chill around a sea of better known bloggers.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first walked through the door and spotted the little stand but I would soon find out that while the stand may be little the party would be anything but.

There was tote bag printing thanks to Damn Fine Print (I made a hames of mine altogether and had to be given one of the ones that was made earlier) , amazing music which I think were the Bugle Babes ( I recognised Truly and know that’s one of her bands), yummy New York style grub which made me sincerely sorry that I’d eaten before I came.

The staff were fantastically friendly and cheerful and I got to meet some bloggers that I had never met before.

Now on to the reason I was there! The ‘Liberty Copper’ range is something really unique and special which anyone who knows me knows I love. I love something different and has a special meaning. Recently the Statue of Liberty had a little make over, bit of a ‘glow up’ type dealy and the left over copper was snapped up by Alex and Ani to make these limited edition pieces.

Yes, you can actually own a little bit of the Statue of Liberty.

The idea to me is absolutely precious and I think it will make a fantastic gift for someone with an attachment to the States.

These are seriously limited edition though with only 60 pieces available in the Kilkenny Shop and even fewer numbers landing into other Alex and Ani retailers so you’ll have to get in quick if you want one!

I was super delighted for the invite and tote and was really honestly not expecting to receive a goodie bag as I’m still fairly new to blogging so I was really blown away by the generosity of the event organisers , Hunter Communications & Alex & Ani.

I spotted on the walk home that there was a book inside and was like ‘Yay a book!’ as I’m obsessed with books. It wasn’t until I got home and had a proper look that I realised I had been given one of the Liberty Copper pieces!

Chuffed and stunned, ‘chunned’ if you will, I could pretend to be one of those celebs who gets sent designer gifts for their birthdays (mine’s on the 26th)

The whole concept had a personal connection for me as only a couple of months ago I lost a friend of mine who had spent a lot of her life in New York so being able to wear a little piece of a place which she loved helps her to still be here for me. She was also a Buddhist and a person who loved working with mental health organisations so I know she would love the #CarryLight message.
